JUDE, Melbourne based artisan fashion label and boutique, invites guests to the launch of MEMORY STONE, the art installation of the boutique’s two-year tenure. We invite our customers and the local arts community to an all-week installation event during the Fashion Week season, featuring exclusive wearable art pieces, made especially to in between season. As a continuation of the intimate narrative of SS19 Fragment Memories and as a precursor to the upcoming AW19 collection, MEMORY STONE will feature a hybrid of artwork, wearable art, and one of a kind pieces that speak to the designer’s journey as an artist, creative, and ethical fashion label. The artworks include natural textured canvases re-created as 3-D textile art, one of a kind shawls and wrap vests featuring the designer’s signature fabric manipulations, as well as a range of specialty backpacks featuring the signature Fragment Memoirs print, designed for the urban traveller seeking both art and practicality.

Guests will have the chance to peruse the collection in a gallery layout where the store will be re-merchandised and transformed to best display the pieces alongside the current collections. The label’s wearable art collection will feature tactile and sculptural shapes inspired by stone and rock formations from inspirational travels that marry the designer’s love for art with his passion for craft, and appreciation for the natural environment. The pieces will be created with fabrics and shaping techniques that illustrate how hard objects can be created with soft, tactile materials.

Head designer Jude Ng received a degree in art majoring in painting at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) be- fore pursuing fashion. Jude has always integrated his art background into his work from the hand-painted textures in his shop to his custom print, based on an abstract mixed media artwork from his collection Fragment Memoirs.
